Hundreds of members of the Mada Mukti Yuva Vahini (MMYB) in a rally marched towards Lower PMG from Vani Vihar here on Friday opposing the recommendation of the Assembly Standing Committee on Excise Department for rewarding the licensed traders who sell more liquor than their quotas.
Speaking on the occasion MMYB convenor Satyabrata Prusty said the committee’s suggestion is very shameful as liquor is destroying thousands of families across the State.
Prusty also said that they would continue their fight till the State is made liquor-free.
The claim made by the Government that it is getting huge revenue from the liquor trade is absolutely wrong; rather, it losing revenue manifold in term of social costs, he added.
Among others Lalatendu Patra, Harish Panigrahi, Soumya Ranjan Mohanty, Abhijit Patra, Rajesh Deo, Pravat Routray, Akshaya Routray, Samash Sarangi and Jadunath Sahu were present.
