Machkund gate opened as water level rises

Published on:

With low pressure induced rain continuing to lash several parts of the State, the water level of the Machkund reservoir is rising due to heavy downpour in the upper catchment areas.

Sources said the water level of the reservoir currently stands at 2,588.08 feet as against the danger mark of 2,590 feet. Following this, the dam authorities have opened one sluice gate to release the rain water.

Around 1,000 cusecs of water is currently being released through gate No. 8 of the hydroelectric project, said an official.
