Machines, not men, used for Jajpur Rd plantation

The Forest Department at the Ward 26 in Vyasanagar Municipality here is using machines instead of labourers for the second-phase urban plantation though the State Government has been making propaganda for creation of much more jobs for the people under different schemes.

As many as 10,000 saplings would be planted in coming season. For this, the Forest Department demarked the open space at the Vyasa Sarovar area, near lord Jagannath temple. At a target of digging 10,000 holes each of 1 foot depth, 1foot length and 1 foot breadth, about 8,000 holes were already dug by machine and another 2,000 holes would be dug in coming two days.

But as per provision, poor labour class people should dig holes manually for the purpose with the cost of Rs50 per hole. The forest officers engaged machine to dig holes for an aim of swindle of big portion of money from the allocated fund which makes labourers jobless.
