BJP members on Monday expressed concern over the shocking incident of a woman poisoning her two kids and committing suicide due to poverty at Gaudabuda in Malkangiri district.

Raising the issue, Malakangiri MLA Aditya Madhi alleged that Sita Madami poisoned to her two kids and committed suicide after she failed to feed her children. Though the woman was living in a thatched house, she was not given a house under the PMAY or the Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana. She had a ration card with four members but was being given 10 kg rice each month instead of 20. After her husband died in tuberculosis, she had been working as a daily wager to feed children. Madhi demanded that the official responsible for not providing houses and assistances to Sita should be found out and punished as per law.Another BJP MLA Jaya Narayan Mishrra too made the same demand. In response, Speaker SN Patro directed the department Minister talk to the district Collector of Malkangiri and submit a report in the House.
