The Vigilance police on Thursday caught red-handed Arpata GP Panchayat Executive Officer (PEO) Dasmant Murmu while accepting illegal gratification of Rs 5,000 from one Debasis Prusty of Tikayatpur village in Mayurbhanj district. Earlier, Murmu had demanded the bribe from Prusty to give the inquiry report to the Gopabandhu Nagar block BDO for sanction of a Biju Pucca Ghara Yojana (BPGY) house.
Later, his residential house at native village Badaolia under Khuntai PS in the district was searched. He was arrested and forwarded to the court. Similarly, Mayurbhanj district’s Kuliana Tehsildar Office Senior Clerk Naba Kishore Das was caught taking bribe of Rs 1,500 from a resident of Chuniposi village Saroj Kumar Pradhan for conversion of his agricultural land to Gharabari
