M’bhanj Nesco staffers back bandh

Published on:

The Mayurbhanj unit of the Nesco Power Employees’ Union extended its support to the two-day all India strike of 10 central trade unions.

The Nesco union activists were seen demonstrating in front of the office of the Nesco SE on Tuesday and Wednesday. This resulted in disruption of official work there. A near deadlock like situation was created.

The agitators raised several demands like filling up vacant posts, stopping contractual appointment, creating new jobs and regularising the metre readers etc.

The demonstration was led by Jyotikrushna Behera and other union functionaries like Chandan Mohanty, Manas Shukla, Debashis Behera, Suman Mohanta, Manoj Patnaik, Pradeep Nath, Dinesh Gupta, Ashok Sethy, Santanu Habda and Bijay Sahu.

Meanwhile, the two-day bandh, it may be noted, threw only a partial impact in the bordering district. While the schools and colleges remained closed and buses were off the road, many business institutions were seen carrying on their activities as usual.
