legal luminaries here on Saturday were unanimous in suggesting that by institutional and individual endeavours, judicial capability in the country could be significantly enhanced despite having a low percentage of judges and inadequate fund and infrastructure in the judiciary.
Speaking at the inaugural session of a two-day national seminar on “Enhancing Judicial Capability” by way of reviewing Rules, practices and technology, Judges of the Supreme Court and several Judges of High Courts discussed measures to enhance the capability of judicial officers within the existing framework.
Justice Dipak Misra of the Supreme Court inaugurated the seminar in the presence of his colleagues Justices FM I Kalifulla and R Banumathi. While Chief Justice of the Odisha High Court Amitava Roy delivered the inaugural address, senior Judge of the High Court Justice Pradip Kumar Mohanty proposed a vote of thanks.
Besides deliberations on enhancing judicial capability, the legal luminaries would be discussing on ‘access to justice’ (changing perspectives and alternate dispute redressal), ‘practice in courts’ (contemporary and actuality) and ‘technology’ (changing paradigm shift) for two days.
At least 250 judicial officers from across the country are participating in the seminar, which is being held at the Odisha Judicial Academy here under the aegis of the Odisha State legal Services Authority.
