In what can be termed as a big jolt to the Congress in Brahmagiri, former late Congress MlA lalatendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra’s younger brother lalitendu Mohapatra and daughter Upasana Mohapatra have decided to join the BJP.
lalitendu and Upasana and scores of admirers of the late Congress leader would join the BJP on October 14.
lulu Sena secretary Rajendra Panda said it was not the duo’s decision to join the BJP.
The people of the constituency and the Congress supporters have decided that they would join the saffron party. The lulu Sena activists have also decided to join the BJP.
In his reaction, BJD general secretary and incumbent Brahmagiri MlA Sanjay Dasburma said, “It is their political decision. It is for the people of Brahmagiri to decide.”
Congress leader Debasish Patnaik said, “When people join a new party, they are treated as second class citizens. There are many examples.”
