Principal of the LR Law College, a constituent college
of Sambalpur University, Prof Girija Shankar Sharma has resigned from
his post on Friday.
He has sent his resignation to the Vice Chancellor of Sambalpur
University. The appointment of Prof Sharma was under virulent
criticism as he was a guest faculty after his retirement.
A section of people also commented that tainted SU VC Prof Sanjib
Mittal wanted to utilise his daughter Sarah Sharma, the SP (Vigilance)
of Sambalpur range, by appointing her father as principal to save him
from numerous illegal activities.
Even some people said it openly in a recent Press conference in the
premises of the Odisha Sanskritik Samaj as to the SP (Vig) adding that
her credibility as an honest and efficient IPS officer is well established.
A good number of students of Prof Sharma and lawyers of the District
Bar Association also requested him to resign from his post and not to be
part of the illegal activities of a controversial Vice-Chancellor.
Considering all these, Prof Sharma has resigned from his post. “Even my
suggestions to solve the present stalemate in the college were not
accepted by university authorities. Hence, I thought it proper to quit the
post,” Prof Sharma said.
