Pradhan Mantri LPG Panchayats were conducted at 100 locations in the State on Saturday in which around 18,000 Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana beneficiaries came together under one roof to discuss the benefits of LPG in their lives.
Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also interacted with the Ujjwala beneficiaries at five venues, i.e, Angul, Baripada, Sambalpur, Brahmapur and Jeypore through video conference.
Pradhan focused on the safety aspects of LPG use and urged to use the LPG for a better life style, health and women empowerment. In reply, the Ujjwala beneficiaries expressed their gratitude for successful implementation of the scheme.
During the meeting representatives from oil marketing companies educated the LPG user on various aspects of safe use of LPG through video and practical demonstration.
It might be mentioned here that within a span of less than three years the scheme has grown leaps and bounds in the State taking the LPG penetration from 20 per cent in 2014 to 68 per cent in September 2018 and transformed the lives of 34 lakh poor families.
