low voltage: No water for GGP-Pandera residents

Published on:

Even as the State Government talks big of providing quality power and water to denizens of the capital city, the dearth of the two basic needs have affected thousands of people of the GGP-Pandera residential areas for over a month now, and nobody listening to their plights.

Most of the residents in the areas are staying on rents while house owners are away in their jobs and business places. Most of the house owners have kept caretakers for safe-keeping of their houses. Slum residents also constitute a remarkable proportion of the population of the area. The voltage in the area remains to be very dim and is tripping frequently. Resultantly, water motors are not working to lift water from the supply water source and individual bore-wells to the tanks on the rooftops. People are spending sleepless nights as fans are not moving as well.

When some residents have approached the concerned electric office, the Junior Engineer has only expressed his helplessness as the transformer has a load much more that its capacity.

locals, most of whom are staying on rents, have turned to be a suffered lot when house owners are taking rents and electric charges from them every month without any delay.   The tenants are standing in queues to take a bucket of water from a lone manual tube-well in the slum to meet their day-to-day needs.
