low pressure weakens: Rains to subside for three days

People in several parts of the State will get some respite as rainfall is likely to subside in the next three days.

As per the latest forecast of the Regional Office of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) here, the low pressure over the Bay of Bengal has now weakened. As a result, the intensity of rainfall in the State is expected to abate.

However, some areas will still experience moderate rainfall with the possibility of thunderstorm and lightning in isolated pockets in the next 24 hours.

“Due to the cyclonic circulation over north interior Odisha, the rainfall activity would be light to moderate in the next 24 to 48 hours,” said IMD Regional Director HR Biswas.

Biswas further informed that rainfall is likely to increase from August 31.

Districts including Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Baleswar would experience heavy rainfall while rainfall activity would also increase in southern parts of Odisha from September 1, he said.
