The local Met office on Wednesday predicted that most parts of the State would receive moderate to heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours under the influence of a low pressure.
A Met office release said a low pressure area formed over west-central and adjoining north-west Bay of Bengal off North Andhra and Odisha Coast lay over north coastal Andhra Pradesh and adjoining Odisha coast between Vizag and Gopalpur at 8.30 am on Wednesday.
“The low pressure may take the shape of a depression in the next 24 hours. Under its influence, rain or thundershower may occur at many places over the State with heavy rainfall at one or two places over south Odisha during next 24 hours,” said a senior meteorologist of the Met office here.
