Low pressure to increase rainfall in State

Published on:

A low pressure area is likely to form over north Odisha and its neighbourhood around July 4, said the Regional Office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here on Friday.

The formation of the fresh low-pressure system is likely to increase rainfall activities in the State.

Earlier, the IMD had forecast the formation of two weather systems over the Bay of Bengal between July 1 and July 14.

There is a likelihood of a low pressure ,cyclonic circulation over the north Bay of Bengal off Odisha coast at the beginning of the week (July 1 to July7) and another at the beginning of the second week (July 8 to July 14), the IMD said.

The weather systems are expected to enhance monsoon activities over Odisha during the first and second week of the month, it added.

While June saw deficit rainfall of 40 per cent, July is expected to record normal rainfall.
