The State Government on Sunday directed all district Collectors to remain alert to combat any emergencies in view of the heavy rain under the influence of a low-pressure area likely over north and adjoining central Bay of Bengal during next 24 hours.
Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Jena asked the Collectors to take immediate action in case of any emergency and also to circulate warning messages among the public.
“The cyclonic circulation over northeast and adjoining east central Bay Of Bengal now lies over north and adjoining east central Bay of Bengal and extends up to 4.5 km above mean sea level. Under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form over north and adjoining central Bay of Bengal during next 24 hours,” mentioned the SRC.
