For fear of attack by Bajrang Dal and Kalinga Sena activists, lovebirds chose to restrict themselves from going out to the frequently-visited dating places in the city on the Valentine’s Day on Sunday.
like every year, activists of the two outfits raided several shopping malls, parks and eateries protesting the celebration of the Valentine’s Day in Westernised pattern. Most of the lovers’ points wore deserted looks with the absence of couples. A 10-member team of the Bajrang Dal raided the Jayadev Batika, one of the most preferred places for couples, near Khandagiri here. However, the ‘moral police’ witnessed a decline in the numbers of lovebirds there compared to previous years.
At those few places, where the Bajrang Dal and Kalinga Sena workers caught lovers hanging out, they forcibly got the couples married by asking them to garland each other.
On the other hand, adequate police forces were deployed at various leisure places in the city to prevent any untoward incident and, in fact, no such incident was reported in the day.
