A lovelorn youth consumed poison and lay on the road near the Jayadev Bhawan here and was later rescued by police on Sunday. He is now undergoing treatment at the Capital Hospital in a critical condition.
The youth, Nirakar Sahoo (23), son of Nakul Sahoo, hailing from Nuasasan under the Khuntuni police station in Cuttack district took the drastic step following a fiasco in his love affairs. The police recovered a letter from him.
“We noticed that he was vomiting. He gave us a letter and requested us to give the same to the police,” said a local person at the spot. As per the letter, he loved a married woman of his village madly.
The husband of the woman had filed an abduction case against Niarakar, following which he had been evading the police since long and wandering around Bhubaneswar in a miserable condition.
“Five days ago, he had gone to village and asked me for money. I expressed my inability,” said Nakul Sahoo, the youth’s father.
