A youth was hacked to death by a man over an argument in a love affair at Kumli village under the Raighar police limits on Sunday.
Police said the deceased, Dipankar Biswas (24) was in love with a girl from the same locality studying in a college in Raighar. Though she rejected his overtures Dipankar, he kept pestering her relentlessly. Unable to put up with, the girl told her uncle Bhabathosh Bhadra who warned the boy sternly to refrain from the nuisance. But the youngster apparently picked up a quarrel. Irked Bhobothosh attacked Dipankar with an axe finding him alone. Dipankar reportedly died on the spot and the accused after committing the crime immediately rushed to the police station and surrendered before the police.
The villagers blocked the village road demanding adequate compensation to the deceased family.
local MlA Subash Gond tried to pacify the villagers assuring them to take necessary action in this regard.
