Irate tribals ransacked as many as 30 houses over a love affair at Iripiput village under Kalyansinghpur block in Rayagada district recently.
According to reports, a SC youth of the village, Rajkumar Turuk, had a relationship with a tribal girl of the same village. They had reportedly fled the village on July 14.
Getting furious over the incident, tribals of the village attacked the local SC people. They vandalised around 30 houses of the Harijan Sahi and damaged household items, sources said. Palpable tension continues to prevail at the village. Though a meeting was held at the Karpa panchayat office to bring back normalcy, it failed to reach any solution, the sources added.
Meanwhile, it has come to fore that Rajkumar was married before getting into relationship with the girl. Police investigation into the matter is on.
