leader of Opposition (loP) Narasingha Mishra expressed regret over stalling of in the State Assembly by members of his Congress party on Friday over the alleged police summons served on party MlA from Jeypore and Opposition Chief Whip Tara Prasad Bahinipati for his alleged links with arrested former Sanakhemundi Congress MlA Ramesh Jena.
Mishra said outside the House that the party acted on a wrong media report that Bahinipati had been summoned by police.
As per the allegations, Ramesh and his aides, who have been arrested for their alleged involvement in many criminal cases, had been staying at Bahinipati official residence in the MlA Colony here. The Commissionerate Police issued summons to Bahinipati on Wednesdayasking him to depose at the Capital police station on Thursday.
As the House met at 10.30 am, leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra raised the issue stating that a very astonishing situation has been created with Opposition Chief Whip Bahinipati being summoned by police when the Assembly is in session. But Speaker Niranjan Pujari did not allow him to speak on the issue. Rather he allowed the Health and Family Welfare Minister to answer a question.
Angered over non-response from the Speaker, Congress members rushed into the Well of the House and shouted slogans against the Government and police. The Speaker had to adjourn the House at 10.33 am till 12.05 pm.
