loP demands CM's resignation, Vigilance DG's suspension

leader of Opposition (loP) and veteran Congress leader Narasingha Mishra on Saturday strongly denounced the State Government’s act of implicating former DGP Prakash Mishra in a false case to block his way to become CBI Director last year.He demanded resignation of the Chief Minister and suspension of the Vigilance Director for hatching a “well-planned conspiracy” against the former DGP.Mishra quoting Prakash Mishra’s petition said the Government became furious after the ex-DGP refused to bow down to political pressure while discharging his responsibilities during investigation of the chit fund and mining scams and seizure of huge amounts of money during the last year’s general elections.

The loP demanded an impartial probe into the alleged cash distribution by the ruling BJD during the polls. He said the Congress would move the Election Commission of India (ECI) to look into the matter seriously. After reading the FIR against Prakash Mishra, the loP said it was found that the allegation against him was false and baseless. The HC judgment in favour of Mishra, now CRPF DG, proves that the Home Department (which is in the hand of the Chief Minister) and its Vigilance Directorate had lodged the FIR with mala-fide intention to lower Mishra’s public image.

“I have never seen such an ‘interesting’ case in my 50 years of law practice where the investigating agency neither recorded statement of witness nor submitted documentary evidence before filing its final report,” said the loP, adding, “Interestingly, the Vigilance Directorate on September 11 last year had served notices to raw material supply companies regarding the case and submitted its final report on the same day.”Notably, the Vigilance FIR had alleged that Mishra during his tenure as the CMD of the State Police Housing and Welfare Corporation had favoured raw material suppliers.
