loP asks State Govt for circular on Tricolour use

Keeping his view on use of the National Flag on the left side of his official vehicle, leader of Opposition (loP) Narasingha Mishra on Friday told the Assembly that he is all committed to uphold the dignity of the Tricolour even as the same was used on the left side of the vehicle provided to him by the Government.

Reading out some stanzas of the code book, Mishra said though fixing of the Tricolor on the left side of the vehicle is not prohibited under law and even not punishable, yet the National Flag is usually used on the middle or the right side of the vehicle as per the code. The Government had given the vehicle fixing the Tricolour on the left side to him, he said.

“All should be conscious of upholding the dignity of the Tricolour. The Government should circulate a circular for use of the National Flag at appropriate places on the vehicles and other places,” said Mishra.

However, he thanked BJP legislature Party leader KV Singh Deo for raising the issue in the House on Thursday. He said the RSS had not accepted the Tricolour as the National Flag for 52 years from 1947 till 1999.
