RTI activists have lodged a complaint with the State Lokayukta over the alleged financial irregularities worth Rs 600 crore in the Odisha State Cooperative Bank (OSCB) seeking a probe in the matter.

According to the activists since influential people were at the helm of the bank when the scams took place, there were no action against the accused despite repeated complaints with the CM office, office of the Cooperation Minister and the Vigilance. They alleged that the CM Office was shielding the accused officials.

Activists Pradip Pradhan, Sanjukta Panigrahi and lawyer Sudhir Mohanty alleged that the irregularities took place since 2015 in the bank in the interest subvention scheme on farm loans and pointed finger at the then management in-charge and managing director of the OSCB.

In their complaint, they said crores of rupees were misappropriated by the two officials in several instances like purchase of computers, illegal issue of tender to a Hyderabad based firm, V Soft, for developing CBS software, issuing work order to a private printing firm, Madras Printer, to print Ruppy Card without floating tender, among others.

They submitted a 17- page document before the Lokayukta, including a Nabarad report, in support of their claims.
