The Odisha Patia Udhaar Samiti on Tuesday held a candlelight rally here in protest against the arbitrary and hot-haste manner of the State Government to pass the lokayukta Bill in the Assembly.
“The State Government is trying to pass the Odisha lokayukt Bill without any public debate and discussion. We came to know that the Government has circulated the lokayukta Bill 2014 to the Members of legislative Assembly (MlAs) only a day before it is passed in the Assembly on Wednesday. Once the Bill, which has inherent defect and shortcomings passed in the Assembly, we can't but have to bear with it for years to come and hopes for a genuine anti-corruption law will be belied,” said Madan Behera of the Odisha Patia Udhaar Samiti.
