The Sambalpur Vigilance police on Tuesday arrested loisingha Tehsildar Bijayini Biswal, Baidyanath Barik of Budipadar and Advocate Bijaya Kumar Babu alias Bagh of Balangir on the charge of demanding and accepting bribe amount of Rs 1 lakh from a person for allocation of Government land for opening of a Plus Two college.

Anil Jal of Kutirapali village under Balangir Sadar police station had lodged a complaint on Tuesday morning alleging that the loisingha Tehsildar demanded Rs 1 lakh to allocate 5 acres of Government land for opening of a +2 Women’s College in the name of his deceased brother late Samir Jal, who had died while working in BSF. The Balangir Sub-Collector had earlier asked the Tehsildar to submit a report for alienation of said Government land.

Acting on his complaint, the Vigilance police laid a trap and caught red handed Tehsildar Biswal and the other two while accepting the bribe amount from the complainant at the Tehasildar’s residence. The house of the Tehasildar was searched and the case is under investigation, an official release said.
