Demanding a clarification from the State Government over non-inclusion of Odia language in the National Eligibility-cum- Entrance Test for undergraduate medical admissions (NEET-UG), lohia Academy Trust on Sunday demanded that the Centre facilitate conduct of NEET and other national level tests in Odia language.
“We demand inclusion of Odia as a medium in the overarching pre-medical entrance for admissions in medical colleges across the country and also for all national level examinations,” said Prafulla Samantara of the trust.
The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Wednesday announced to hold the NEET-UG in the coming academic year (2017-18) in Hindi, English, Gujarati, Marathi, Bengali, Assamese, Telugu and Tamil.
Pointing out that the exemption of Odia as a medium of examination in NEET is an insult to Odia people, Samantara said students of Odisha, who have studied in Odia, would be at a great disadvantage by the decision of Government of India.
