Locals to continue stir before Tata Mines

Published on:

The situation remained tense at the Joda East Iron Mines under Joda mining circle where locals threatened to continue their stir as their demand over jobs was not fulfilled during a discussion with the company officials and local administration.

Sources said that the locals had staged  demonstration  on July 4 in demand of services for local youths.  However, after assurances of Tehsildar, Barbil Khirod Kumar Behera, the strike had been called off and  deferred to August 6.

Accordingly, large numbers of local people, including women, gathered  in the  gate of mines on Tuesday. Although the Tehsildar was absent, Tata Joda chief Rajesh Kumar besides other officials simply avoided the core demand for job and merely agreed to develop a burial ground.

With regard to local employment, they clarified that it would be done as per the guidelines of the company, which was rejected by the locals.

Earlier, a widow had held a long dharna in front of the Tata Sponge factory main gate in demand of permanent job for her son.
