A proposed truck terminal building at Bhutamundei on the outskirts of Paradip has been opposed by locals including residents of adjacent villages under the banner of Anchalika Suraksha Samiti.
Reports said that in view of traffic problems owing to mushrooming growth of trucks and goods laden heavy vehicles coming to Paradip port, a truck terminal has been proposed to be built at Bhutamundei. Meanwhile, locals of Bhutamundei Panchayat and surrounding villages have opposed the construction of the truck terminal in their locality.
They said that serious pollution problem would occur if the project comes up in their locality. Besides, peace and tranquility of the area will be broken when lots of vehicles would be coming and going. Samiti convener and former Bhutamundei Sarpanch Sanjaya Behera instead demanded a super specialist hospital in Bhutamundei.
“Locals are agitating for past three months for a hospital but instead of fulfilling the demand, the authotities are planning a truck terminal,” Samiti’s another convener Minarva Parida lamented.
