Even though the Crime Branch police, arresting four persons, claimed to have succeeded unfolding mystery behind BJD youth leader Abhimanyu Sahu’s murder here, this seems not to have satisfied the locals.
“We are not convinced by the conclusion arrived at by the police in connection with Abhimanyu’s murder,” said some residents. According to them, Alok Das, brother of former local NAC chairman, is not the main accused.
According to their information, Abhimanyu and Alok were neither contractors nor they possessed any licence to undertake contracts. “Hence, the question of any business rivalry over tenders or contracts between them does not arise,” claimed a local youth leader.
While Alok runs a roadside dhaba in Titilagarh, Jagdish Bag, another accused works at the Ghantasuni temple in the town.
Similarly, Naresh Singh, the third accused, is a former employee of Powmex Steel and was looking for a job. The fourth accused, Santosh Rana, owns an Ambassador car which he had purchased with Alok’s financial help some days before Abhimanyu’s murder.
The youths said that the growing popularity of the slain BJD leader had made his close party leaders jealous and they might have masterminded his murder with the help of these four accused. They demanded that the investigation into the murder be handed over to some other probe body so that the main accused would be caught.
Meanwhile, senior Congress leader Narasingha Mishra on Sunday reiterated his demand for a CBI investigation into the murder.
Pointing a finger at Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik , he said “If the former is keen about an impartial probe, why is he reluctant to order for a CBI probeIJ”
