The Khordha district administration on Thursday decided to conduct search operation in the houses of villagers of Keranga village after it found that they are not cooperating in the process of culling of the fowls voluntarily.
Sources said that while on Wednesday 300 fowls had been killed, the number reduced to 100 on Thursday.
Chief District Veterinary Officer (CDVO) Manas Mohapatra said, “The decision was taken as people are not submitting their fowls voluntarily. If anyone is found hiding the poultry, the promised compensation will not be provided to the families.”
It may be mentioned that a compensation of `90 from the State Government and `25 from the Red Cross is being provided for culling of each fowl. The target is to cull about 2,000 birds.
