A teacher of a Government school committed suicide allegedly over loan burden at Nuabedha in the Kabisuryanagar area of Ganjam district on Monday.
The body of the deceased, identified as Mohan Rao who was working as a schoolteacher at Vetasingi village, was found hanging from a tree near a pond.
As per reports, Rao took the extreme step as he had been under immense mental stress for his inability to repay his loan.
Police recovered the body and sent it for postmortem after a preliminary inquiry. Further investigation into the matter was underway.
