liver disease clinic opened at Care Hosp

The Care Hospital would start a super-specialty liver clinic here, considering the lack of specialist services in liver transplantation and complex liver surgery. Medical experts will visit twice a month to see patients.

Aditya Care hospital Medical Director Dr Mahendra Prasad Tripathy inaugurated the clinic in the presence of Head of Division, HPB surgery Prof Tom Cherian and Care hospital General Manager Mahender Pala.

The liver clinic would provide access to the latest developments in the diagnosis and treatment of liver disease. The clinic would also offer the highest technological services.

Speaking on the specialty liver clinic, Prof Tom Cherian said, “The clinic offers screening programmes that can be used to diagnose problems in the liver long before they start to cause symptoms. liver disease shows no definite symptoms until it is well advanced, so screening can help someone to get the treatment as early as possible.”

He said lack of awareness on liver health and a comprehensive screening facility is one of the main reasons for the country registering an increasing number of liver diseases cases. The liver clinic is being launched as part of Care liver programme effort to reach out to the masses.

The liver clinic is focused at offering detailed assessment, management and complete liver care, he added.
