literature, politics have strong bond: Haraprasad

Published on:

Politics without application of literature is meaningless.

Current politics is finding dearth of literature. The absence of literature in politics has resulted in the lack of communication between the politicians and common people. With the stronger the use of literature, a politician can be more articulate, said poet, writer and thinker,  Haraprasad  Das in a talk organised here by the Poet Chandra Kumar Mohanty Memorial Committee.

Deliberating on the topic, ‘Politics and literature’, the former bureaucrat , Das , said that it is the literature which made the French and Russian revolution successful.

He said that earlier while politicians either of  leftist nor the Rightist ideology  were seen, in the current political scenario a lot of elected representatives were adopting Centrist  approach, which was  based on purely on the statistics.

Use of statistics has weaned the politicians away from the common people, he said.

Das quoted several examples how the use of strong literature by legendary personalities, including Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru , Dr BR Ambedkar , Ram Manohar lohia and Jay Prakash Nayayan, AB Vajpayee and Narashimaha  Rao etc acted as powerful tool of communication with the people and helped in

mobilizing andmotivating the mass.

He further opined that incumbent President of USA, Donald Trump, is far (in terms of communicating) from the people of the country as he was lacking literature in heading a powerful country.

Among others, committee president Dr Subash Patra, poet Sridev, Ambarish Dinda and several other persons of literary circle were present.
