The Quick Action Team (QAT) of the Commissionerate police, the Begunia police and Excise Department officials conducted a joint raid at Rasolo village under Bolagarh block in Khordha district on Friday and busted an illegal liquor manufacturing unit.
They also arrested a woman, Minati Paikaray, in this connection and began interrogating her for further information.
Excise official Ranjan Kumar Nayak said the cops seized 150 litre of liquor, a car, a generator set, packing materials and cash of Rs 17 lakh from Paikaray’s possession. A detailed probe into the incident was on.
Notably, following the closure of licensed liquor shops for the Covid-19 lockdown, there is a spurt in demand for illegal liquor across the State.
