Lime plaster falls off Shreemandir

A piece of lime plaster, weighing around 1.5 kg, rolled down from the sanctum sanctorum of the Jagannath Temple here two days ago. However, there was no harm to the idols of the presiding deities, sources said.

Though the temple administration has not provided any information in this regard, sources claimed that the piece of stone fell from the temple structure.

Shreemandir Superintending Engineer Naresh Chandra Rout said, “A piece of lime plaster had fallen from the temple structure a few days ago. This is not a big issue.”

Sources in the temple, meanwhile, revealed that a special lime plaster has been applied on the temple structure as part of the preservation work.
