Lightning strike claimed lives of two persons and left two others critically injured in Dhenkanal district on Friday.
Babaji Mallick (62) of Balipada village under the Kamakhyanagar police limits was working at a farmland when lightning struck him. He was rescued by his family members in a critical condition and rushed to the Kamakhyanagar Sub-Divisional Hospital, where doctor declared him dead.
Duryodhan Nayak (77) of Godisahi under the Kankadahada police station was also killed in a lightning strike.
Babita Singh (22) of Bhadalia village in the Kankadahada area sustained serious injuries in lightning strike when she was at a farmland. Phulrani Sahu (79)
of Sundhikateni village under the Kamakhyanagar police limits was sitting at the verandah of her house when lightning struck, leaving her injured.
The injured victims were admitted to the Kamakhyanagar Sub-Divisional hospital.
