While five more people died after being struck by lightning at various places in the State on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep grief over the unfortunate loss of the lives.
It may be noted that at least 30 persons had died due to lightning in the State on Saturday.
“The unfortunate loss of lives due to lightning in Odisha is saddening. Deepest condolences to the families of the deceased,” the Prime Minister said.
He also wished the injured recover soon. Those who died in lightning on Sunday included two of a village in Dhenkanal district.
On Saturday, the maximum number of eight deaths was reported from Bhadrak district while seven died in Baleswar district, five in Khordha, three each in Mayurbhanj and Jajpur district and one each in Kendrapara, Keonjhar, Jharsuguda and Nayagarh districts.
