The much-awaited light and sound show at the Sun Temple, the 13th-century World Heritage site here, is expected to be a reality soon.
Officials of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), the Indian Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) and the State Tourism Department visited the temple on Monday to select a location for the implementation of the project.
After inspecting various locations, the officials zeroed in on a site near the Avadhoot Mutt to implement the project.
The light and sound show, to be designed with 3D projection mapping technology, would be performed in three languages English, Hindi and Odia. Eminent personalities from Ollywood and Bollywood would lend voice for the narration of the show.
The State Government had signed an MoU with the ITDC for introduction of light and sound shows at the twin hills of Khandagiri and Udayagiri, the Peace Pagoda at Dhauli and the Sun Temple at Konark in October 2014.
As per the MoU, the estimated cost of the project for Konark was `6.56 crore. The ITDC was entrusted with the implementation of the project as the executing agency.
