Normal life was on Monday disrupted in the Jagatsinghpur headquarters town and adjoining blocks due to a 9- hour bandh by Congress to protest against oil prices hike.

In Jagatsinghpur town, the Congress workers led by DCC president Natabar Barik and Municipality Chairman Biplab Choudhury gathered at the bus stand and held a dharana on Cuttack- Machhagaon NH 55.

Shops, educational institutions, Government offices, banks and insurance company offices remained closed during the bandha hours. Vehicular traffic also was standstill the whole day.

The Congress workers staged demonstrations carrying placards and chanting slogans against the Centre at different blocks.   Police sources said the bandh passed off peacefully without any untoward incident.
