AICC secretary Mastan Vali here claimed that the Modi Government was paying a very high price for Rafale jets in comparison to the UPA Government and accused the PM of compromising every defence procurement procedure.
Demanding a probe by a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) in to the Jet deal with France, Vali said the intention behind awarding the contract to manufacture the jets a company owned by industrialist like Anil Ambani is clear.
“Ambani is in debt of Rs 45,000 crore and hasn’t ever manufactured a jet. But he was chosen for the contract instead of a Government undertaking like HAL which has been manufacturing planes for 70 years,” said Vali pointing out the nepotism and corruption in the Rafale deal.
He said that people should consider why a jet that was worth Rs 520 crore has been bought for Rs 1,600 crore and who has been benefited from such a deal. He also claimed that the Central Government can’t hide the price of Rafale jets and demanded that the deal should be investigated by the CAG and the PAC.
Jharsugada MLA Naba Kishore Das and PCC general secretaries Laxman Meher, Raj Kishore Sarangi, treasurer KC Patel and DCC president GR Panda were present.
