'let BJP, Cong learn poverty eradication from Odisha'

Chief Minister and BJD president Naveen Patnaik on Saturday lashed out at both the Congress and the BJP saying both of them should learn how to alleviate poverty from Odisha.

“Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi is making tall claims about development in his State. He should come to Odisha and learn how to eradicate poverty,” Patnaik said during the course of an election meeting at Pallahada.Patnaik said his Government has ensured development for the poor with a variety of welfare schemes, including the `1-a-kg rice scheme and the  Mamata Yojana.

Coming down heavily on the Congress, the Chief Minister said it has been grossly apathetic towards Odisha and has denied the State its legitimate rights in cases of Special Category State status and minerals royalty. The BJD supremo also hit the campaign trail at Hindol and Talcher and urged voters to bless BJD candidates for an all-round development of the State.
