'let BJD make all transactions public'

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik should himself clarify on the “Naveen Hawala Ghotala” case, said BJP State vice- president Samir Mohanty at a Press conference here on Saturday.

All the BJD’s transactions and its sources of funding should be made public, Mohanty demanded.

Earlier, many times suspicious transactions in the BJD account have put a question mark on the party’s claims of transparency. In this scenario, the investigations in national media have added a new leaf to the whole episode, Mohanty said. He said even though crores of rupees is being deposited in the BJD’s account, the party is not informing the Election Commission about its poll expenses. A common man knocking at the doors of the High Court and the court ordering the Election Commission to investigate and submit a report within a month are gradually exposing the BJD’s illegal money transactions, he said.

He further said the BJP would approach the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Income Tax Department for investigations into these alleged irregularities.

However, the BJD strongly refuted the allegations. Party treasurer Subash Singh said, “The BJP is trying to defame the BJD. All the allegations levelled against our party are baseless. We have made all our transactions in a transparent manner.”

Congress leader and leader of Opposition in the State Assembly Narasingha Mishra alleged that the BJD is trying to cover up its irregularities.
