Dear sir,
The servitors of Lord Jagannnatha temple are very brass, arrogant and cocky. They have neither moral obligation nor honest intention to serve the devotees coming from remote regions of the country. Their attitude and outlook is to exploit the devotees collecting money by any means even putting them into inexplicable troubles, harassment and humiliation.
On December 28 last, the Lord had to observe 14 hour’s fasting due to breach of discipline and decorum by the servitors . They took an arbitrary decision to prevent the devotees from catching a glimpse of the Lord. It clearly indicates that both the State Government and temple administration have no control over the servitors . Those servitors who are arbitrary in their decision and proud and arrogant in behaviour must be disciplined and punished . It is a public temple and public funds are being expended and utilised for service and worship of the almighty Jagannath. The Sebayats have no rights to create deliberate disturbances and disruptions whereby daily ritual performances of the Lord are dislocated. The Government considering the indiscipline and disorders should make stringent rules to be abided by all including the servitors. If the servitors do not extend willing cooperation in carrying out the daily rituals of the Lord they must be awarded hard and harsh punishment, even if their noncooperation brings about fasting of Lord Jagannath days and months together. The entire people of Odisha will no doubt agitate and wholeheartedly demand ruthless action against the recalcitrant and arrogant Sebayats . Public opinion is supreme and powerful in a democratic polity.
Lord Jagannath and His temple is not the property of anybody. As it is public property, the State Government has ample power and supremacy over the temple administration. It can enact legislation or law to end the deteriorating state of affairs arising out of arbitrary attitude of the servitors. It is axiomatically true that Lord Jagannath can never tolerate the pride and arrogance of any body and
He cannot see the exploitations and sufferings of His devotees.
