Two trade union leaders, Sukant Kumar Dalai and Pravat Kumar Samantararay, were on Friday elected as the labour trustees to the Paradip Port Trust (PPT) Board. They will have a two-year tenure from 2014 to 2016 each.
Out of the 1,826 PPT employees (voters), 1,675 cast their votes in favour of eight candidates. Eighteen votes were found invalid. \\Dalai, general secretary of the Paradip Bandar Shramik Union, got 556 votes and was elected as first trustee to the PPT board. Samantaray, who is president of the Utkal Port and Dock Workers Union and also former MP of Kendrapada, emerged second trustee securing 336 votes.
Similarly, general secretary of the Paradip Port Shramik Sangh Ramshankar got 277 and working president of Paradip Port Workers Union Sudhakar Mantry and Bharatiya Bandara Mazdoor Union’s Dolagobinda Das got 102 votes each. President of Paradip Port and Dock Mazdoor Union Ghanashyam Jena got 76 votes.
