Presiding over an all-party meeting held in front of the main gate of the Jayshree Chemicals limited (JCl) in Ganjam in support of a dharna which has been continuing over last one month by the legal heirs of the deceased employees of the firm seeking job, the former Ganjam Block Chairman Kankaya Reddy called upon the State Government and the management of the JCl to immediately absorb the agitators in the company.
He said that the company had earlier made a commitment to appoint the kin of the deceased employees under its rehabilitation scheme.
Supporting the agitators, BJP leader and former Assembly Deputy Speaker Rama Chandra Panda criticized the local administration for its callousness in not intervening in the matter, reportedly under the pressure of some unknown forces. Panda urged the JCl authorities not to intimidate the deceased employees’ kin who are on a peaceful dharana in support of their legitimate demand.
Among others, former Zilla Parishad Chairman Dharanidhar Behera, Ganjam NAC former Vice-Chairman lakshmi Padhi, Uma Behera, Banamali Sethi, Manu Mahapatra and several youth leaders spoke.
