Lawyers won’t represent accused, says Bar Assn

The Nabarangpur District Bar Association on Wednesday announced not to represent the accused persons involved in the gangrape and murder of a minor girl at Gumandali village under the Koshagumuda police station in the district two days back.

Association president Narashinga Tripathy said the association has taken the decision as ‘a moral and social responsibility’ against the heinous crime committed by the accused in the district.

“We also demand before the State Government to give Rs 20 lakh compensation for the family of the victim and immediate arrest of the culprits”, he added.

Tripathy also said the association has requested bar associations of undivided Koraput and lawyers to stand up to defend the gang rape and murder accused persons as it would be immoral to defend the case.

Even if five days have passed the police are yet to get any clue about the culprits. Sources said that the police have detained four persons of Kotpad block in Koraput district for interrogation.
