The Odisha lokayukta Abhijan in support with the Progressive lawyers’ Association here is going to organise a day-long deliberation here on Saturday to make suggestions which would be incorporated in the proposed lokayukta law of the State.
The Odisha Government is contemplating to bring the law into force immediately by way of an ordinance. The State cabinet has reportedly taken a decision to this effect recently to bring the new law replacing the Orissa lokpal and lokayukta Act of 1995.
In view of the State Government’s decision, the lokayukta Abhijan is inviting experts to deliberate and make suggestions for such a law, informed the Progressive lawyers’ Association chairman Khirod Rout.
“There exists an imperative need for giving constructive suggestions to the State Government so that a proper lokayukta law is in place in the State,” Rout said adding that consensus of the experts on the subject shall be forwarded to the Chief Minister and Governor for necessary actions at their ends.
