The District Bar Association of Kandhamal gave a memorandum to the district Collector, through the ADM, Kandhmal, demanding sufficient staff, specialists, medicines, ventilators and ICU facilities in the Covid hospital, besides proper maintenance of toilets and quality food to the patients.
In another memorandum sent to the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, the Association alleged that while Covid positive cases were increasing day by day in Kandhmal district, the Covid hospital did not have adequate nimbers of ventilators.
Citing an example, it said on September 15, advocate and special public prosecutor, Vigilance Suresh Mahapatra of Phulbani was referred to KIMS, Bhubaneswar from the Covid hospital, Phulbani. But he passed away after 3 days.
The information of his death was communicated to his family members after 18 hours. "It proves the gross negligence of private hospital towards the Corona patients," said the association, demanding a high level inquiry.
