lawyers of the Orissa High Court along with members of other bar associations here, including that of the State Administrative Tribunal (SAT) Bar Association, resumed attending their courts on Monday. The lawyers had been boycotting court activities since last week demanding a rollback of the State Government’s recent decision to abolish all Benches of the SAT. Over 50,000 cases are now pending disposal in various Benches of the tribunal.
SAT Cuttack Bench Bar Association secretary Ullash Mohanty said the lawyers have given a one-month deadline to the Government to reconsider its decision.
“If the Government does not heed our demand, we will resume the stir once again,” he said, adding that lawyers are contemplating to take legal recourse in the matter.
