In a highly unfortunate incident, a traffic havildar on duty was mercilessly beaten up allegedly by a group of lawyers here at Sati Choura Square on Thursday morning.
Havildar Pratap Chandra Dalei in his FIR has stated that the group after beating him was forcefully taking him in a vehicle to the office of a bar association when one of his colleagues on duty at Belle View Square intercepted the vehicle and rescued him.
“The members of the group were all in advocate’s attire and fled from the spot when a PCR van arrived,” Dalei said in his FIR, stating that the trouble began when traffic was brought to standstill at Sati Choura Square for facilitating the Chief Justice’s car to pass.
Since the FIR has not named any accused, city DCP Sanjiv Arora said action would be taken as per law after conducting a thorough investigation.
